Two things are for sure with this week’s POTW. We do rely on user nominations, and not everyone chosen is a household name. In this case, a great performance in a great team moment gets the prize.

Greg Dickey’s scoop layup, down one, put Tipton in a 66-65 lead, which held strong as Ethan Jacobs grabbed the game clinching defensive board as the clock expired. Tipton #2 in 2A beat Mt. Vernon #3 in 3A, 66-65 at Mt. Vernon.

The first POTW each year encompasses the first two weeks of year, since many don’t kick off until after Thanksgiving. That’s a lot of ground to cover via Indiana’s great newspapers covering high school basketball.

Every year it happens. Kids transfer schools, and the debate ensues on whether or not that player is cleared to play, should be cleared to played, moved for basketball reasons, and then there is the dreaded “R” word–recruited.
