With 28 points last night in their big win over sectional contender Bluffton, DeShaun Thomas has 2,956 points. That puts him 178 points behind Damon Bailey’s 3,134. With one sectional game left, two potential regional games, one potential semi-state and the potential of another 2A state title game, Thomas just has five games left at his shot at history.
To turn the trick, Thomas has to average 35.6 points per game the rest of the way out. No question, the 12 point output in the 60-50 loss to Warsaw hurt his cause, but juggling the necessary points with the cause of winning three straight 2A titles might clash against each other.
Do upcoming opponents do what they can to stop or contain Thomas, or do they go about the notion of letting him get his and allowing him to get his teammates easier attempts? Are we on the brink of history?
