Scout ’11: Tony Springmann, 6’8″; power forward; Fort Wayne (Dwenger)

Springmann is big and strong, at 6’7″ and 220 lbs. It’s muscle, and one of the first things you notice about his movement is he usually one of the first guys down the floor in both directions. He has great hands and a nice touch. As a freshman, like with most freshmen, he needs to improve his footwork. Anything he gets going straight to the shot is great, double moves and reading his defender with the ball is a little slow right now.

Defensively, he’s physical and does a great job at getting position. He’s not going to get muscled out of position too much, even in the varsity game as a freshman. His footwork will improve on offense, and if he can grow to about 6’9″, this is a high major potential.

What is nice about him, he has a good game facing the basket but isn’t shy about pounding away inside.
